How the upscaler works

Four steps, one wallet. You bring the file, pick how Topaz should treat it, and we call Topaz directly so the result is the real thing — no quality lost to a middle layer.

  1. 01

    Upload an image or video

Drop in the file you want bigger and sharper — a photo, a render, a screenshot, or a clip. The upscaler handles both images and video in the same tool, so you don't hop between apps for stills and footage.

  2. 02

    Pick a model + scale

Choose the Topaz model that fits the source and a scale factor. For images that's up to 8x; for video it's 2x or 4x into a 4K box. The UI locks any scale that would push the output past Topaz's cap, so you can't pick a setting that won't run.

  3. 03

    Upscale

Hit go and we call Topaz directly — no aggregator in between. A live credit preview shows the cost before you commit, billed per-megapixel for images and per-second for video, never a flat fee.

  4. 04

Download — it lands in your Library

The finished upscale saves straight to your FlyAIgh Library, ready to download or pull into a Director shot, a Canvas node, or any other tool. If a job fails, your credits are refunded automatically.

What the upscaler is for

One Topaz-powered tool covers the jobs people actually reach for when an image or clip is too small, too soft, or too compressed.

Enlarge for print

Take a web-sized photo and scale it up for posters, banners, or large-format print without the soft, mushy edges of a plain resize. Standard or High Detail recover real texture as the image grows.

Restore old, compressed, or low-res

Rescue a scan, a screenshot, or a heavily compressed JPEG with the Recover model — built specifically for small, soft, or artefact-ridden sources that other upscalers smear.

Clean up AI art & CGI

Upscale generated artwork, illustrations, and 3D renders with the Art & CGI model, which is tuned for synthetic detail instead of photographic grain.

Sharpen typography & logos

Use the Text & Graphics model on flat graphics, logos, and type so edges stay crisp and letterforms don't blur — the failure mode of general-purpose upscalers on text.

Finish AI video on the cheap

Generate a clip at 1080p where it's cheap, then upscale to 4K instead of paying premium rates to generate at 4K in the first place — a real cost play, not just a quality bump.

Sharpen faces & interview footage

Run the Faces model on people, portraits, and talking-head video so eyes, skin, and detail hold up at 4K instead of going plasticky.

Why upscale on FlyAIgh

Most upscalers either lock you into a monthly plan or route your file through a layer that costs you quality. This is Topaz itself, billed by use, inside a platform that connects to the rest of your workflow.

Official Topaz, connected directly

We call the Topaz Labs API directly — your file goes to the same engine the desktop apps use, with no aggregator hop in between to soften the result or add a markup.

Pay only for what you upscale

No upscale subscription and no per-tool plan. One FlyAIgh wallet covers upscaling alongside every other tool, and you spend credits only on the jobs you actually run.

Credits refunded if a job fails

If an upscale doesn't complete, the credits are returned to your balance automatically — you're never charged for a result you didn't get.

Image and video in one tool

Stills and footage upscale in the same place, on the same credits, instead of forcing you into two separate products with two separate bills.

Results in your unified Library

Every upscale lands in the same Library as your generations, so a sharpened frame can flow straight into a Director shot, a Canvas pipeline, or your next download.

AI upscaler FAQ

How much does upscaling cost?+
It's usage-based, never a flat price. Images are billed by output megapixels — roughly the Topaz cost of ceil(output MP / 24) credits — and video is billed per second, with longer clips and 4K output costing more. Every job has a 4-credit minimum so trivial upscales aren't near-free, and the exact credit cost is shown live before you run.
What's the largest image I can upscale?+
Up to 8x. The only hard limit is Topaz's cap of 32000 pixels per side, so the available scale factors shrink as the source gets larger — the UI automatically locks any scale that would push a side past the cap, so you can only pick settings that will actually run.
Can it upscale video to 4K?+
Yes. Video upscales 2x or 4x into a 4K box (up to 3840×2160). The current MVP accepts clips up to 200MB and 60 seconds, and the output is clamped to 4K to keep cost and processing time sane.
Which model should I pick?+
For images: Standard is the best all-round choice, High Detail maximizes detail on high-resolution photos, Recover rescues small or heavily compressed sources, Art & CGI is for illustrations and 3D renders, and Text & Graphics keeps logos and typography crisp. For video: Standard suits most footage, Faces is tuned for people and interviews, and Generative is the top-quality 4K option for AI or low-res video (slower and pricier).
Is this real Topaz?+
Yes — FlyAIgh calls the official Topaz Labs API directly. Your file is processed by the same Topaz models behind the Gigapixel and Video AI apps, not a clone or a cheaper imitation routed through a third party.
What happens if a job fails?+
Your credits are refunded automatically. Upscaling charges against your FlyAIgh wallet, and if a job doesn't complete the credits are returned to your balance — you only pay for results you actually receive.
